Artist of the Month

Afia Al Nawasra is a Palestinian artist who was born in Jenin City in 1997, Lives between Jenin and Ramallah. She completed her fine arts studies at Al Najah University in 2019 and is currently pursuing a master's degree in contemporary art at Dar Al Kalima University in Betlehem. Her studies have allowed her to collaborate in the cultural and artistic fields and to begin working as an independent artist since 2019.

Afia has shown her artwork in numerous local galleries in Jenin, Ramallah, Jerusalem, Nablus. She also gained a scholarship to participate in an artist residency at the Al Qattan Foundation. Since 2020, she has lectured at the Al Najah University's art faculty and worked as a child teacher in various institutions.

In order to create her artwork, the artist combines fantasy with visual memory. She uses a variety of mediums, including acrylic, watercolor, and oil paints, and she focuses on people, events, and the goings-on in her immediate environment.
